Skin Tags and 3 Ways of Skin Tag Removal
Skin tags are loose pieces of growth that protrude from our skin. Some skin tags are attached to the body by the peduncle or skin stalk. These are very small in size and the chances of them appearing are more as we age. Skin tags are harmless. They are the color of the skin and are commonly found in the areas of the face, the neck, the chest and the groin areas. Not much has been found out about the reason for them appearing but they are too harmless to cause concern.
The only problem with skin tags is when they get tangled in clothes or jewelry or are accidentally scratched. Since they are part of the skin in most of the cases, they can cause a lot of bleeding when instance like this happen. They are, if you think about it, an unnecessary irritation. You need not think about them but cannot ignore them altogether. Some people simply cannot stand the sight of their skin tags and have them removed. Some people get irritated with skin tags appearing on their face and they feel that they are an ungainly sight. For most people, removing skin tags is more due to psychological reasons than anything else.
The most common way of removing skin tags is to go under the scissor. When you visit your doctor and express the desire to have your skin tag removed surgically, your doctor will be more than happy to do so. It is a simple operating procedure that you will need to go through and that’s it. Some of the modern doctors also use laser surgery to have skin tags removed. However, surgery will cost you money and you cannot also reimburse the expense because medical insurance does not cover skin tag surgery. But surgery is a permanent solution.
Another common way of removing skin tags is to use a dental floss or thread. You need to tie the dental floss or the thread around the base of your skin tag to ensure that there is no blood supply to the appendage. Very soon, the skin tag will get completely withered and you can snip it off using surgical scissors. This sounds a very gruesome process but is not anywhere as painful as it looks here.
A more common way for those who cannot stand the use of scissors or surgery is to use skin tag removal serums or freezing the skin tag. The serums are usually made of natural ingredients and are not harmful for the body. You need to apply the serum to the skin tag and wait for it to fall off. Skin tags can also be frozen by applying liquid Nitrogen or liquid Carbon dioxide and they will fall off on their own.
